Jackson H - 820457 Posted January 22, 2014 Share Posted January 22, 2014 VATPAC is currently seeking applications from members for the position of Director of Pilot Training - VATPAC8 The Pilot Training Director is responsible for the provision of training programs that implement the standard VATSIM pilot ratings. This includes leading a team of staff/instructors who perform assessments for controller rating upgrades. A key part of this role is developing and implementing the Pilot Training standards within VATPAC, and seeking VATSIM approval. The sucessful applicant will be expected to continue existing work to develop training packages for ratings above the currently implemented P1 programme. Responsibilities Recruit, lead and motivate the Pilot Training Staff Develop and Maintain Pilot Competency schedules for each rating Ensuring that members undertaking training and assessment are provided with the necessary mentoring and instruction to ensure high standards are met. Maintain Pilot Assessment standards, tasks and methods Monitor and enforce Training Staff service currency requirements Ensure the timely processing of training service requests Liaise with ATC Training director regarding potential cross portfolio training requirements Monitor the [email protected] email address Create and Maintain Piilot Training web content Liaise with VATSIM Pilot Training staff to gain approval for ratings beyond P1 Time Commitment The estimated time commitment associated with this role is approximately 10 hours per week, however during certain periods, it is expected that this workload can increase significantly, i.e., a influx of pilot promotion requests. It is critically important to this role that promotion requests are dealt with in a timely manner, which may mean that the above time guidelines are occasionally exceeded. It is an expectation of this role that you have (and will continue to maintain during your tenure) regular access to email and are able to visit the VATPAC Forums frequently *Note, this role currently has a deputy appointed, who assists with these tasks. Requirements of role The successful candidate will meet the following minimum requirements: Develop the Pilot Training standards within VATPAC Have an in depth understanding of VATPAC/VATSIM issues Have an in depth understanding of Airspace, policy / procedures in Australia and a strong aviation knowledge background Have experience with training / development / assessment Posses very strong communication skills Be a member of VATPAC Be in good standing with VATSIM Familiarity with the Moodle training package is highly desirable.
