VATPAC is currently seeking applications from members for the position of Director of ATC Training - VATPAC3

 

The ATC Training Director is responsible for the provision of training programs that implement the standard VATSIM controller ratings. This can include leading a team of staff/instructors who perform assessments for controller rating upgrades.

 

Responsibilities

? Recruit, lead and motivate the ATC Training Staff

? Maintain Controller Competency schedules for each rating

? Ensuring that members undertaking training and assessment are provided with the necessary mentoring and instruction to ensure high standards are met.

? Maintain Controller Assessment standards, tasks and methods

? Monitor and enforce Training Staff service currency requirements

? Retrain any ATC referred for additional training by the ATC Operations Director

? Ensure the timely processing of training service requests

? Liaise with Pilot Services director regarding potential cross portfolio training requirements

? Monitor the [email protected] email address

? Maintain ATC Training web content

 

 

Time Commitment

The estimated time commitment associated with this role is approximately 10 hours per week, however during certain periods, it is expected that this workload can increase significantly, i.e., a influx of ATC promotion requests. It is critically important to this role that promotion requests are dealt with in a timely manner, which may mean that the above time guidelines are occasionally exceeded.

 

It is an expectation of this role that you have (and will continue to maintain during your tenure) regular access to email and are able to visit the VATPAC Forums frequently

 

Requirements of role

The successful candidate will meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Have an in depth understanding of VATPAC/VATSIM issues
  • Have an in depth understanding of Airspace, ATC policy / procedures in Australia and a strong aviation knowledge background
  • Have experience with training / development / assessment
  • Posses very strong communication skills
  • Be a member of VATPAC
  • Be in good standing with VATSIM

 

This role does not specifically require the Director to perform ATC assessments, however experience in this area is highly advantageous

1. A Director of the VATPAC Board

2. A The outgoing VATPAC Director of training

3. A General Member

 

and will remain in confidence to the VATPAC Board and the appointments committee.
