Shannon W - 811815 Posted June 5, 2010 Share Posted June 5, 2010 VATPAC is currently seeking applications from members for the position of Director of Airspace - VATPAC7 The Airspace Director is responsible for aligning VATPAC airspace with real world airspace and maintaining sector files. The airspace director is a service provider to other directors and members. Where some directors rely on other directors for input (such as the ATC director), the airspace director relies on no one. Their role is an autonomous, independent service provider. Responsibilities Alignment to real world practices Monitoring Airservices/CASA and other areas for changes of significance (SUPs, AICs, SIDs, STARs, procedures, standards). Advising ATC and pilot services directors of such changes. Definition and maintenance of airspace. Maintenance of airspace website content Definition of radar coverage (including use/implementation of ADSB) Sector files Maintaining POF files Publishing revised sector files every 6 months reflecting all changes to navdata, sectors and aerodromes. Development, testing and support of sector files Lead the sector file team Provide one-off sector files at the request of the ATC Director Time Commitment The estimated time commitment associated with this role is approximately 5-10 hours per week, however during certain periods (such as cyclic releases AIRAC / 6 monthly airspace updates by Airservices, your workload can be expected to increase significantly). It is an expectation of this role that you have (and will continue to maintain during your tenure) regular access to email and are able to visit the VATPAC Forums frequently Requirements of role The successful candidate will meet the following minimum requirements: Have an in depth understanding of VATPAC/VATSIM issues Have an in depth understanding of Airspace, AIRAC cycles Have experience with sector file creation - please note this is a critical part of the role and applicants are expected to be able to demonstrate their background with this Posses very strong communication skills Be a member of VATPAC Be in good standing with VATSIM Application Instructions Applications should be sent via email to [email protected] before Friday 11th June, 2010 2359 AEST.
