  1. My Deepest condolences to Quig's Family.

I will forever miss the wonderful & insightful conversations we had while looking at the scope and it means so much more to me to have been there for your final time behind the Scopes watching over VATPAC Airspace.

Rest in peace my friend - Ill have a scotch for you tomorrow morning after work :)

  2.

    Hello Team,

With the reasoning for me joining the Operations Team now gone with my movement predominantly outside the VSOA's here in Oceania & the added addition of my RL job getting busier by the day, I think its time for me to pack my things up and move on from this role. I am no longer providing what id expect to see from an Operations Advisor. I am still around should the need arise but for now ill go back to enjoying the wonderful world VATPAC provides

I’ve just left the VATPAC server, so can’t see the VATSIM server being much different.

    A rather pointless reply.

Can you elaborate on the reasoning of your departure, You shouldn't be afraid to discuss your thoughts (Unemotionally) This will assist the right departments make the right steps to better improve the experience for the end user (You)

Personally i think the moderation of the discord server is going well for what it is and what capacity it can moderated in. I have encountered my fair share of open and emotional discussions and that is fine but remember we are all passionate and have to leave it there.

Hope you find whatever you are looking for and if VATPAC Discord cannot provide that for you then that is a shame.

  4. Hey Callum,

yer no worries that answers the question it has been a point in supervisory discussions previously and good to get the understanding. As a SUP does have the right under there purview that if the incident is significant enough they can take action on it from a VATSIM space. So i wanted to just get location specific request although maybe rare and isolated it could be an issue in the future :)

    Thanks for the answer :)

  5. Hey Guys,

Just a quick one on this one as it is an official Discord i did read the text it does mention the CoC etc but for the purposes of clarity.

Supervisors can action things on the discord under Vatsim CoC and action appropriate repercussions on the vatsim side (not discord side)

My question is this - is it the view of the board that the preference be for Supervisor to not do this actively, It is at the end of the day up to the SUP who comes by it whether they want to action it in a VATSIM environment but it would be helpful to know as we cannot double punish if that make sense

Happy to chat just wanted some clarity

RAAFv Invites all participants to EXERCISE PITCH BLACK 19!!

Exercises such as Pitch Black are pivotal to the Vatsim Spec-Ops & VSOAS to ensure the membership is kept active, entertained & up to date with the latest processes that other VSOA’s are doing. The training and integration of forces that occurs during this exercise directly support RAAFv ability to conduct operations.
Exercise Pitch Black features a range of simulated threats which can be found in a modern battle-space environment and is an opportunity to test and improve each VSOA’s capabilities, utilising one of the largest training airspace areas in the world — Bradshaw Field Training Area and Delamere Air Weapons Range.
Activities such as Exercise Pitch Black recognises the strong relationship RAAFv has with its participant VSOA’s and the high value it places on VSOA relations and fostering closer ties throughout the VATSIM Spec-Ops Group.
I kindly invite you to engage with this exercise pull as much information as you can and make the most of the various opportunities available to you.

  7. I like the idea,

General updates from all groups eg. IT etc  WIP images and messages are always good discussion points for the community, Additionally getting an update from VATPAC affiliates (if there is any left) In the past, there has been no real reward for being an affiliate except a nice TS channel. Maybe having a chat to them they may jump at the idea of some images or general chat to fill out the newsletter :)

Just my 2 cents ill go back and hide in my corner as usual

  8. My Personal views aside.

Maybe a point since VATPAC has let one in we must intern let all in that meet your criteria, David?

Generally, people steer away from it because as you said it is a loosely read UA section and interpretation of such can be hugely different thus potential negative feedback/outcome is the result.

  9. Out of curiosity and playing the otherside of the fence,

An ATC Hit squad is a derivitive of the Vatsim hit squad (correct me Josh if my wrong) so tge selected members of the squad are highly trained and expected to have the knowledge of the area they are working.

VATPAC ATC is regarded as one of the best throughout vatsim so tge ATC hitsquad may not work here but may be of great help to VATNZ who knows???

Anyway my lonely opinion for a thought or two Ill go back to my box now .... bye :)

  11. Royal Australian Air Force Virtual Announces development and integration of new platforms and structures.
It is with great enthusiasm that Royal Australian Air Force Virtual (RAAFv) announces our introduction of Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) into our current simulator base that our members can utilise.
The introduction of DCS operations into RAAFv has been in the draft stages for some time and has come to fruition in conjunction with several VSOA’s and Mr Daniel Cremming who will spearhead the DCS operation under the guidance of RAAFv executive staff.
RAAFv inherently will utilise the F/A-18C from the DCS as our primary airframe on offer for our DCS division along with the opportunity to utilise the exchange programs to visit other groups worldwide, you could fly in DCS utilising nearly every airframe within DCS while being apart of enthusiastic and diverse simulation group.
Our DCS members will enjoy all operations within RAAFv and promotions and rewards as applicable to all other members within RAAFv.
Additionally, to the DCS operations RAAFv has additionally expanded to integrate members wishing to utilise X-Plane, X-plane has been around for some time and has shown great growth recently and opening our systems for integration of X-plane has been a massive feet to achieve for our IT department and they have shown the dynamic environment that RAAFv strives to achieve.
X-Plane will be available to all members provided X-Plane has the aircraft applicable to the chosen members requested airframe.
RAAFv excitedly looks forward to seeing the development of these systems within RAAFv as we try to keep ahead of an everchanging and constantly moving simulation dynamic present within the Oceanic region.

If you would like to join our DCS division please contact us today via our website “Join Us” page.

RAAFvirtual is pleased to announce that we will be accepting applications for direct entry on to airframes of choice. This has come about as RAAFv continues to increase its member base and to ensure we are achieving our goals with an ever-changing flight simulation dynamic.

What does this mean for you?
If selected, you will be provided training on the aircraft that you have chosen through the application system and following completion of said training will then become an operational member who will be eligible to participate in operations and exercises.

    How do I apply?
Head over to www.raafvirtual.org and navigate your way to the JOIN US page. From there, complete the predetermined form but in the “WHY WOULD YOU LIKE TO JOIN”, once filling in why, please also add in that you would like to apply for the Direct Entry Scheme and the preferred airframe to which you want to be trained on.

    What’s the catch?
There isn’t any, however, RAAFvirtual holds the right to select and will accept those that meet the pre-existing criteria. ***All members will still be required to comply with all VATSIM/VSOA policies & Procedures***
