  7. Hi All, I seem to find myself apologising once again for emails that appear to have been sent by me titled "Welcome to VATPAC". Due to another VATSIM Technology issue, users were missing from a regular data pull which our membership system relies on to determine new users. When the database updated this morning, all the users returned meaning it thought people had joined the Division. When a member joins our Division, they get an email automatically which is why these members, some who have been with VATPAC since its inception, received emails. This appears to have only affected a particular range of VATSIM ID's. There has been no comment from VATSIM to the Division on why this has occurred on either occasion. The VATNZ I.T Team who administrates the automated email system is investigating how to stop this occurring. I apologise for any inconvenience.

Sam came into the Division at a difficult time and has been responsible for bringing the community together through our events for close to two years! Welcome to the latest VATPAC Iron Mic attempt featuring Melbourne. Help us celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Milk Run Monday with our week of events, including an Iron Mic attempt! The following positions will be the primary positions: ML_TWR ML_APP ML-SNO_CTR To give us the best chance possible, please logon to the above positions at Melbourne prior to occupying others. We will be trialling a reservation system where you'll be able to allocate your availability for a position in two hour blocks. If there isn't anyone online however, please jump on! What is Iron Mic? Iron Mic is a weekly competition that VATSIM holds to recognizes the positions with the most hours logged on the network. It is broken into 3 categories; TWR, APP and CTR. The position in each category that logs the most online hours over a 7 day period wins the Iron Mic. Iron Mic runs from 0000z on Monday to 2359z on Sunday (0859 Monday AEDT) How do we know about our progress? Click on this link (http://fsmine.dhis.org/stats/showstats.cgi) to view all the VATSIM ATC stats for the week. Remember, Our aim is to keep the TWR, APP and CTR positions open as much as possible. Coordinate with other controllers to ensure maximum coverage of the Melbourne positions. You can do this via Facebook, Discord and the forums. VATSIM has set out a few rules regarding Iron Mic which can be viewed here https://forums.vatsim.net/topic/2299-the-rules/ If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

By far the most popular of our regular weekly events, on any given Milk Run Monday you'll find the famous "J-Curve" between Melbourne and Sydney well serviced by both pilots and ATC. Not to be confused with our Spilled Milk Run Monday events, details of which can be found on the Spilled Milk Run page, the Milk Run invites you to fly in any direction between Sydney and Melbourne and all destinations in between (Canberra, Albury etc). Prefer to control? We recommend getting in early. ATC positions on Milk Run Monday are often scarce so definitely worth being an early bird. Winter has returned to the Southern Hemisphere, and even as the nations of the South Pacific begin their recovery, the region's skies are eerily quiet. But on VATSIM, pilots from around the world will once again pack Oceania's skies as they continue their mission to Cross the Ditch! Check out the official Cross the Ditch website Apply to provide ATC Book your Flights now! View the Event Schedule Check out the Virtual Airline Leaderboard Grab the recommended add-on scenery for each of the event airports What's it all about? For twenty hours this June, the skies over the Tasman Sea between Australia and New Zealand will be filled with aircraft all on a mission to Cross the Ditch. An example of that typical down-under understatement, this "ditch" is over 1100nm wide. The flight routes all range from three to four-and-a-half hours flight time. Throughout the event, the Oceania region's two divisions – VATNZ and VATPAC – will be providing full ATC coverage, in the Southern Hemisphere's premiere oceanic event. This is a great opportunity to experience Oceanic flying without the need to commit to an eight-hour flight! If you're new to Oceanic Flying, our reporting tool makes taking part a breeze. Event Times This twenty hour event is timed to allow pilots from all over the world join the fun: UTC: Saturday 20th June 2020 18:00 - Sunday 21st June 2020 14:00 AEST: Sunday 21st June 2020 04:00 - Monday 22nd June 2020 00:00 NZST: Sunday 21st June 2020 06:00 - Monday 22nd June 2020 02:00 Waves This season's event is organised in waves. Each airport will have a two-to-four hour departure window, during which time flights will be able to leave for the next destination. As the window closes, the departure window will open at the next destination. Given each of the flights is 2 - 4.5hrs in length, the previous wave's flights will be arriving at the same airport as the next wave departs, maximising the amount of traffic at each airport. NOTE: in order to ensure that you have ATC coverage throughout your flight, you MUST fly the wave route that is active at the time of your departure. The individual routes are designed to ensure as much opposing traffic enroute as possible. Each flight passes from one Oceania division to the other, and the result is six mini-flyins over the course of twenty hours!
