By far the most popular of our regular weekly events, on any given Milk Run Monday you'll find the famous "J-Curve" between Melbourne and Sydney well serviced by both pilots and ATC. Not to be confused with our Spilled Milk Run Monday events, details of which can be found on the Spilled Milk Run page, the Milk Run invites you to fly in any direction between Sydney and Melbourne and all destinations in between (Canberra, Albury etc). Prefer to control? We recommend getting in early. ATC positions on Milk Run Monday are often scarce so definitely worth being an early bird. Traffic levels traditionally start to pick up at around 7:30pm AEST / AEDT and generally peak between 8:30pm and 9:30pm AEST / AEDT. Welcome to the next instalment of Spilled Milk Run Monday! This week we are heading to the tropical north (Darwin & Broome) to trial out your aircraft in the tropics! Traffic for these events tends to build at around 6PM AEST and tends to peek from 8-9PM AEST. ATC Positions will be scarce! Float around the discord if you are available to control and we may even open some Non Standards Routes: YPDN - YBRM: DN J151 CIN J93 BRM YBRM - YPDN: BRM J93 CIN J151 DN Controllers: Prefer to control during the event? We recommend logging on from 0600z as positions often scares so worth being an early bird. Remember there are non-standard positions that can be opened should you be looking to join in on the fun (see a C3 or Senior Staff Member for authorisation to open them!!!) - Non-Standard Positions are noted with * beside the callsign. It's the Australia Day Holiday! In 1788, some poms decided to come to New South Wales and set up a colony at Botany Bay. Turns out there wasn't enough fresh water there, so they landed in Sydney Cove instead, but eventually someone built an Airport near (later, partly in) Botany Bay. Later, in 1901, the Colonies decided to become a Nation and so established the Capital of Australia in Melbourne... temporarily at least. Later, in 1911 the Capital was established in Canberra. In Celebration of these and probably other historical facts, it's time to put a snag on the barbie. For those of you all saussaged out, there's always the Milk Run. See how many legs you can do between Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra tonight. With Vatsim being upgraded on Monday, this week's Milkrun was cancelled. Now, the Vatsim servers are back online. The radio waves are clearer than ever. It's time to Fly! There are a lot of airports north of Brisbane with a great variety of airspace. Whether you are in Class C airspace, class D airspace, Class E airspace or even class G airspace, it's time to check out some of the new features available on Vatsim. Rockhampton sees a variety of aircraft including Boeing 737, Bombardier Q400, Saab 340, Fokker 100 and more. Rockhampton has a Class D tower. After hours, some special arrangements are in place whereby Brisbane Centre controllers operate Rockhampton Approach in Class E airspace as low as 700ft above the airfield. Not far south, Bundaberg is an uncontrolled airport with a CTAF which sees a mix of aircraft including Qantaslink Q400's and 300's. Brisbane is a fully fledged International airport with Clearance Delivery, Surface Movement, Tower and Approach controllers.
