    VATSIM seeks Vice President, Membership (VATGOV12) VATSIM is an international online flight simulation network with well over 70,000 active members. An exciting vacancy on our Board of Governors is now open for applications. The Vice President, Membership accepts and processes individual requests for Membership to VATSIM.net through the use of manual and/or automated systems of records. Accepts and processes changes to membership status. Maintains the VATSIM.net membership database to ensure the validity of all accounts. Responds to inquiries on membership status. Conducts analysis of membership as directed/warranted and reports to the Board of Governors any results. Be able to work well within a voluntary organisation It is desirable that the appointee has held senior staff positions within VATSIM, including deputy director or higher within VATPAC or VATSIM network supervisor Term of Appointment: The appointee’s term will expire on 31 December 2019, but may be reappointed.   5. VATPAC is seeking the assistance of members who have significant experience in cybersafety and teen behaviour (e.g. school teachers, child psychologists, police officers). VATPAC intends to develop a cybersafety strategy to combat bullying and other issues of the type that have been growing in our organisation and expected to be an issue in most medium-to-large online organisations in the coming years.   7. Director Operations

    I am pleased to announce that Eoin Motherway has been appointed as Director Operations. Eoin should be no stranger and is responsible for such projects as the TAAATSmod installer and Accumap. Eoin also brings with him a wealth of knowledge of the air traffic system. Congratulations Eoin, we look forward to working with you!

    Please join me in congratulating Sam Hall in being appointed as Director Events. Sam has been an invaluable member of our events team and the Board is looking forward to working with Sam to present an exciting events calendar for 2019!

Responsible to: VATPAC Director of Division Direct Reports: Deputy Director Operations AIS Officer AIS Officer, Pacific Area Virtual Airlines Liaison Officer Operations Advisors Duties: Attends periodic VATPAC Board meetings to report on pilot-related issues to act as a liaison between pilots and the VATPAC Board bringing pilot and controller views, complaints, ideas, and proposals to the appropriate Division and Board meetings in order to consistently improve the effectiveness of communications, suitability of new procedures, and overall satisfaction of pilots with ATS provided Assists the Events Director where required in the coordination of Events, Fly-Ins and Group flights in the VATPAC airspace Reports quarterly on activity within the division. Liaises with Virtual Airlines for anything they may need from the Division (events, contact information) Maintains an online register of all VATPAC affiliated Virtual Airlines Acts as the Division's Point-of-contact for VATSIM's main VA Coordinator Stay abreast of real world issues which may involve VATPAC airspace Coordinates the personnel and activities of the VATPAC AIS Team Monitors VATPAC policy change proposals as they affect pilots Liaises closely with the Director ATC Training on operational matters affecting pilots and controllers Stays abreast of current issues and contributes to discussions and dissemination of information within the VATPAC and VATSIM community as they affect pilots Monitor facilities and accuracy of the ATC Clients to the TAAATS specification.   11. Town Hall - Spring 2018

    VATPAC Members are invited to our Town Hall meeting to be held on Sunday 14 October 2018 at 8pm AEDT (0900 UTC). Business: Reports from the Board Governance Discussion Paper Questions and Answers If you would like to submit a question on notice to be answered at the Town Hall meeting, please submit to director at vatpac.org. Otherwise, you may ask questions without notice at the meeting. We will be releasing our Governance Discussion Paper at the next weekend and we will be inviting a discussion and comments on the issues raised in the paper.

  13. Operations

    I'm pleased to advise that Greg Barber has agreed to fill in as Acting Director Operations until the vacancy is filled next month. Peter Story will also fill in as AIS Manager.
  14. BZ - Richard Quigley

    I would like to take this time to thank Richard Quigley for his time as acting operations director. He has provided stability to the portfolio and ensured that it is well staffed by experienced members for a future permanent operations director. Richard will now be departing the team for personal reasons and I will announce the interim staffing arrangements later in the week. Thanks again Richard for your hard work and dedication and certainly for the time I have been in my role, I am grateful to have had your counsel.

  18. ATC Training - Christmas Shutdown

    On behalf of the ATC Training Team, I would like to wish all members a happy Christmas and a safe festive season. Our ATC Training Team perform an enormously important task and do so entirely with their generously donated time. So it is traditional for us to express our gratitude to them by giving them a couple of weeks off to enjoy family, friends and VATSIM. ATC Training will be closed from 21 December 2017 and will reopen on 8 January 2018. During this time, there will be no new theory exam passwords given out, no exam results processed and no additional arrangements will be made for official mentoring or practical assessments (existing arrangements will of course be honoured). If you feel you are nearing completion of your selfdirected study, please consider using these 2 weeks as an opportunity to read over those tricky subjects again and we will be happy to serve you in the new year.

    ML will be the only place getting event traffic from multiple directions. No point running Flow for a single direction (as in the case of SY and AD) as you can easily get your 2 minutes-in-trail using the velocity vector without any need to consider merging.
