  1. gday David ...

i apologize for not responding at the time to your landing praise
at Watt's - lest you think i am immune to such flattery it is
amazing how such small things boost one's spirit.

on the other hand i must show my appreciation for the detailed
planning you do for the briefings of flyins like these
    two at Watt's Bridge.

to challenge our VFR flying it might be good for you to sometimes
give us waypoints and landings only and some general flying guidance
for the route. perhaps you could sometimes set a particular sim time that we should all use.

i will share my method for the VFR flyins.

since we are flying day.vfr i set  sim time as local - x based on our nominal

1000z departure time. i might want the experience of landing a half hour

before sunset or other particular time. BUT if i was asked for time by ATC or

another pilot, i would call xx minutes past the hour current UTC.

wind and weather have been said to be tricky but for me it is either

current VATSIM wx and wind or fair wx and current VATSIM wind.

i check a few wind sources to get a current wind picture for the flight.

sometimes ops trump wind as for example last night at Southport with

the wind SW pilots chose 01 for takeoff. okay then. join the traffic flow.

    regards

    joe

  2. along with many others i really enjoyed this event.

i think that this 'scaled down' event, smaller area, closer airfields, atc available,

has the potential to include more small aircraft in the mix of real world flying situations.

the briefing could include a few points for smaller aircraft [2, 4, 6, 10 seat] to encourage

those pilots to fly in such events. being able to monitor the centre frequency is an excellent way

to involve smaller aircraft in the flying atmosphere.

one issue was that some larger aircraft did not use CTAF frequencies as the briefing described.

to a pilot on the CTAF this is the same as a pilot not making a call. then follows a scramble to

find out what frequency the other aircraft is using and make unnecessary calls to establish pilot intentions.

if there are a few aircraft in the airfield area that could become a bit tricky.

let us have more of these style of events and i encourage all smaller aircraft pilots

to discover how they can muchly increase our flying enjoyment.

  4. the link to OZx AUS V 3.5

is to the last zip in a series of zips

which will likely not work without the full series

the complete series is at https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?searchid=75989058

though as Robert Fluke has noted https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/174134-flukeys-airports-auv2/?tab=comments#comment-1525479 there may be trouble if you have Orbx AuV2 installed.

others are wary - Orbx Au2 + Other Add on Scenery

i have not seen any [trouble] yet but i am very conservative with installing scenery. i install scenery

into folders so that it can be turned off for debugging.
