Fitzroy is home to some of Australia's most famous mining towns such as Moranbah and Emerald, both of which are supplied by FIFO flights to a range of destinations across Queensland. You can also travel up to Longreach and spend the day at the Qantas museum, or continue up to Winton to discover where the flying kangaroo was founded. This July, we are happy to welcome you to the Festival City for another edition of the ever-popular Panic Stations! It doesn't matter what aircraft you decide to fly, all that matters is that you make it on time to enjoy those all-important bragging rights. South Australia awaits for this edition of Panic Stations, with the expectation of a fully staffed Adelaide (YPAD) between 0600z-0900z (4pm-7pm AEST). Whether you arrive over the beautiful Flinders Ranges, or by crossing the renowned Eyre Peninsula, we can ensure that Adelaide won't disappoint. Event Details: The aim of Panic Stations is a simple one; get as many aircraft flying into the destination as possible with one objective. This being to arrive into Adelaide at or after the arrival time to be in the running for exclusive bragging rights, as well as a special prize! This time around the touchdown time is: 0800z (6pm AEST : 5:30pm ACST : 4pm AWST) We do recommend bringing some extra holding fuel as controllers will be busy trying to accommodate the influx of pilots whilst trying to maintain larger separation standards than usual. Prizes: Thanks to the lovely people at Aerosoft, this Panic Stations will have a little bit more up for grabs than usual. They have generously donated three $15 Aerosoft Store Vouchers to be won by two punctual pilots and one lucky controller. For Pilots: To win one of two awards on offer, you must be one of the aircraft to arrive at or just after the target arrival time. The sounds of crashing blue waves and the sight of luscious rainforests can only mean that this FIFO Friday has brought us to Far North Queensland and the region of Leichhardt. Being "where the rainforest meets the reef" as any local will tell you, this region has some of the best views in the country. Whether it be the world heritage listed Great Barrier Reef, the infamous Daintree Rainforest, or the mining hub of the Atherton Tablelands, this region definitely has a scenery to suit everyone. Here, FIFO flights focus on connecting the indigenous communities of Cape York to Cairns (YBCS). These flights are often the only connection to these towns, playing an important role in keeping a unique and ancient culture alive well into the future. You too can bask in the wonders of Leichhardt by joining us between 0700z and 1000z (5pm-8pm AEST : 3pm-6pm AWST) for ATC coverage of the region. Said to have the “richest soil in the world”, the region has become the agricultural hub of not only Queensland, but all of Australia. It’s home to Queensland’s largest inland city, Toowoomba, whose primary airport (YBWW) now sees freighter flights as far away as Hong Kong and Singapore.
