  1. Thank you Josh, Thank you everyone! I am truly heartbroken to have had to make this decision. The events department has been mine and Josh's little baby for over a year now. I have absolutely loved working with the team that we have built, in addition to some of the long standing members of the team! I was always going to be a long shot, I know that, Josh knows that, you all probably knew it! A Brit, living in Britain, being a senior staff member in the Australian division of this big network that we call home. I have lasted a lot longer than I thought I would, ill be honest, however, the time has now come. My work life, education life, and personal life, unfortunately must take priority, meaning I must leave the demanding role that the Events Manager position is. I am extremely grateful for all of the opportunities that working in VATPAC has given me. However, I am 100 times more grateful for being able to work with my best friend, even if he is over 16000 k's away. I will not forget this part of my life, not one moment... All the best, Cam -

  5. Welcome to one of VATPAC's rare event types! A "return" event allows our pilots to fly two sectors, between two relatively close airfields! In this rendition, we will be flying out of Darwin to Denpasar and back, between the hours of 0800z to 1400z on the 28th of August 2021. This will allow pilots to get a feel of flying a return flight while testing our controllers' skills with two flows of traffic! Departure Information Departures out of Darwin will be expected to fly the JULIE5 departure off of the chosen runway at Darwin, departing at roughly 0800z. Alternatively, pilots may request the DN5 departure, however this should only be used if absolutely necessary. Pilots are advised that extra fuel may be required for both ground and air holding. Departures out of Denpasar will be expected to fly the ANGSA3A departure off of the chosen runway. Pilots may also request radar vectors, should they require them, for operational purposes. Again, pilots are advised that extra fuel may be required for both ground and air holding. Routes VATPAC recommends the following routes for this event: YPDN > WADD: JULIE UQ320 VIROB UQ200 KILIK A458 KPG W33 GOMAT ANGSA WADD > YPDN: ANGSA GOMAT W33 KPG A458 KILIK UY85 CURLY UY91 DONYA ATC Information Any controllers interested in providing ATC services during this event are encouraged to apply here. Applications will be open until Monday the 25th of August, on which the roster will be released for public viewing. Non-Standard positions are denoted with an (*) beside the callsign and will only be opened if sufficient controller applications are received. Please see a member of the Board of Directors, or a C3 rated controller to be granted permission to open a non-standard position on the day. Welcome to the next rendition from the Light Up series, Light up Western Australia! It is time to pull out those regional aircraft or commercial airliners and explore Australia's largest state, as we attempt to provide the most realistic ATC services for you as you travel to the many stunning destinations that Western Australia has to offer. From the bustling city of Perth to the beauty of the Kimberly, Western Australia is a spectacle of natural wonder! What is Light Up Western Australia? This event revolves around one of our older events (Regionals and Twins) with the idea being to provide ATC services to more regional locations around the country. Our regional towns don't get the love like the big cities do, so let's change that! Travel to those often-forgotten destinations and provide controllers and pilots alike a different challenge—a chance to fly into an unfamiliar location and try an approach other than the usual ILS approach. During this event, you will receive an Outside Control Airspace Service at most of our airfields from the overlying ENR Controller. Pilots can expect the following service types depending on the class of airspace. Suggested Major Routes: Western Australia has so much to offer and explore! Whether your flight is high or low, fast or slow, there are plenty of routes to fly. Find some of our suggested routes below, bearing in mind that Pilots are more than welcome to fly other routes from other destinations! Charts for all airports can be found here. Perth Based Routes: YPPH-YNWN: DCT PH Y31 WONYU V35 NWN DCT YPPH-YPKG: DCT PH Y31 KARAB Y69 BOSLI Y67 KG DCT Kununurra Based Routes: YPKU-YBRM: DCT KU J93 MAMUT W287 BRM DCT YPKU-YPPH: DCT KU J72 ARG T63 BIDAP Q25 DALWU Q38 PH DCT Broome Based Routes: YBRM-YPKA: DCT BRM J93 KA DCT YBRM-YNWN: DCT BRM Q38 NWN DCT We would also suggest flights from any of the following airports: Albany (YABA), Busselton (YBLN), Esperance (YESP), Geraldton (YGEL), Kalgoorlie (YPKG), Karratha (YPKA), Learmonth (YPLM), Newman (YNWN) Paraburdoo (YPBO), Port Hedland (YPPD) plus many others... ATC: Controllers interested in controlling the event are encouraged to submit their ATC Applications here - Applications will remain open until 4 Days before the event date, of which the roster will be compiled on the website.
