Ladies and Gentleman, On Saturday 20th April 2019, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane welcomes VATUSA to Friday Night Ops. Kicking off at Friday 19th April 2019 at 2330z , So drop the juice box or the glass of whiskey and get your flight plans filed. VATPAC has your ATC Covered manning airspace between Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane! We invite and encourage you to fly between the three airports, In any order you wish. You should allow approx 1.5-2.5 hours flying time for Jets between any given pair. Flight Planning In Australia, flight plans are filed in the ICAO method, with the SID/STAR not included with the initial filing. This will be provided by ATC on contact with clearance delivery (for departure) and with Centre, usually just prior to initial descent clearance. In Sydney each different runway has it's own set of SID's, which can be hard to predict ahead of time. Due to this, the outbound route should start with "TESAT". TESAT is an RNAV waypoint located on the airfield, replacing the old VOR "SY" which has since been decommissioned in the real world as part of the Navigation Rationalization project which removed 179 ground-based navigation aids on the 26th of May 2016, meaning GNSS is now the primary means of navigation for all instrument flight rule aircraft and flight plans. Knowledge about deleting waypoints and closing route discontinuities in your FMS will be useful. Cheats include knowing the 2nd waypoint along the initial airway. Additionally be aware that ATC is likely to ammend the text of your route when giving clearance in the same manner as the Electronic Flight Strip is used in the real world. Once you file it, it's theirs. Flight Plan Route To help with filing your flight plan, we reccomend Simbrief as a free service additionally there is a number of payware flightplaning software Simbrief Flight Planning Software Recommended Routes With everything that has been said above VATPAC wishes to recommend a few routes to pilots that will be fully staffed during the event. 9. Focus Month NSW

This April VATPAC welcomes you to a new Focus Month! For the month, all scheduled events will be exploring New South Wales. This month is an opportunity to experience some of the smaller airports in NSW as Sydney of coarse. With plenty of aerodromes both controlled and uncontrolled and a variety of different environments, you’ll surely find something new! ATC should read up on all of the procedures local to the airport they're controlling at, especially if you are controlling somewhere new! Everything you need to know about airspace can be found in the Airspace section of the VATPAC website https://vatpac.org/operations/documents/ and all other charts and information can be found via the Airservices Australia website, available here. Stay tuned for individual event information through the calendar. If you have any questions, suggestions or feedback, Please direct it to https://vatpac.org/about-us/feedback/
  10. Milk Run Monday

    until
By far the most popular of our regular weekly events, on any given Milk Run Monday you'll find the famous "J-Curve" between Melbourne and Sydney well serviced by both pilots and ATC. Not to be confused with our Spilled Milk Run Monday events, details of which can be found on the Spilled Milk Run page, the Milk Run invites you to fly in any direction between Sydney and Melbourne and all destinations in between (Canberra, Albury etc). Prefer to control? We recommend getting in early. ATC positions on Milk Run Monday are often scarce so definitely worth being an early bird. Traffic levels traditionally start to pick up at around 7:30pm AEST / AEDT and generally peak between 8:30pm and 9:30pm AEST / AEDT.

  12. A New Start

On behalf of the board and the greater VATPAC community I’d like to thank you David for all your efforts and outstanding work in rebuilding this community to a more than stable state. Not only have you turned the division around from an unstable time to the blooming community we are now, but you accomplished this task in such a short amount of time and I think everyone will agree with me when I say that you have done the division well. Thank you again David and all the best in your future endeavors.
