  1. Get ready for the biggest non-official flight of the year.

Tuesday 10th November 2020 is the launch of the Port Moresby (AYPY) to Wewak (AYWK) flight. Note: Traffic expected to exceed that of CTP and Worldflight combined! Get in early to avoid delays!

    Route: PY V14 WK

    Time: 0700z (1800 AEDT)

    Aircraft: DH8D recommended, anything really

ATC: Anyone really, I expect it to fill up quick so get in early for a good position.

  2. A bit of info for this flight in case anyone was interested especially in replicating the real world flight.

VH-OEJ is the final QF 747 left in Australia. It is flying Sydney to LAX on 30 June, departing YSSY at 0930.

VH-OEJ was the second Wunala Dreaming 747, from 2003 to 2012. It was also the last 747 to be delivered to Qantas in 2003.

It also had the Socceroos 2014 livery and the 2016 Olympic Games livery.

  3. Whilst I don't like to usually get involved in politics, I thought i might add my 2c.

I believe during this quite unusual time, just having many prominent VATPAC volunteers step down from their positions due to the lack of transparency from RD. It can only seem fair that VATPAC as a collective understands why and how certain members will take these positions, not necessarily to avoid it happening again, but rather, I believe, to ensure a stable and fair 'hierarchy' (if you'd call it that). Honestly, I don't mind the recent appointments, but witnessing some of the communication between the Director himself and other members of VATPAC in this thread, and many others does make me question the decision. Whilst this is my opinion, and feel free to judge it, there must be a connection of trust between one in a position of authority and those that they serve. I'm not here to argue with anyone, but to put it simply, I believe for VATPAC to ensure a stable future, the bond of trust between the 'higher-ups' and the VATPAC collective must be strong, by doing this communications can be easier and further development of the region can occur.

P.S. I will be in attendance at Town Hall, with some questions to raise in regards to the recent events. I hope they are not met with the hostility displayed by some in this thread.

  4. Thanks for clearing that up Josh. And Greg I do apologise for some of the terminology I used in my earlier post, looking back it was a poor choice to react in that way. Quite immature of me. Again apologies. Hopefully I can get a flight in on Sunday morning.

  5. Hi all, developer here, with the jetways, the default ones didn't reach the height of the little bridges that extend out of the terminal, therefore I decided to leave those out for the most recent release. The other member of the IDG team is currently working on the SODE Jetways and will be implemented in the more in depth version of PH. In the meantime I will figure out how to put the default jetways for the next freeware release which will hopefully include the textured terminals.

  6. Great topic Ryan,

One more thing if I may add

When a controller asks you to 'Standby', I've often heard pilots respond with 'Will standby, [Callsign]'

The proper thing to do is simply wait and the controller will call you, and if its been a significant amount of time you can then contact the controller.

  7. Thats an option also Theodore, I'll be flying tonight around Bankstown. But I'll see if something can happen on Saturday nights for school students, or those unable to fly during the week.

  8. Good to see some more real world pilots flying on VATSIM. I am looking to start flying mainly VFR around Australia, flying into some of those mostly unactive Class-D aerodromes, such as Bankstown, Archerfield, Moorabbin, and also visiting some CTAF aerodromes such as Bathurst, Orange and even Katoomba. I am think of doing this on Thursday evenings at 1000z, when there are no events on. Feel free to join if you see me on.
