What's Happening in the Department at the Moment?
Solo EndorsementAs said in Issue 6 of the ATC Training Bulletin, a new way of training has been launched. This is Solo Endorsements. Solo Endorsements under Section 4.5 of the VATSIM Global Rating Policy allow S2 & S3 trainee's to go onto the live network unsupervised and preform self-learning. So far we have had two C1 trainees go through the system and it has been smooth. The feedback that has been provided so far to the training department has been positive from a learning experience from the student and the mentors that have been mentoring the trainees have also had similar views with the experience. If you have been controlled by a Solo Endorsement trainee or worked with them on the scope please be patient with them and provide feedback by going to feedback.vatpac.org and select 'ATC Training'. You can read all about the implementation of Solo Endorsements here.
Updating Mentoring and Assessment Scenarios
The heads of the ATC Training Team are still hard at work on updating mentoring and assessment scenarios. We thank our current students for your patience. With the current world situation, a lot of our staff are focusing on family and their welfare. We endeavour to keep working on these to get them out for new students as soon as possible.
New Oceanic Course
Currently Cam is in the process of creating a brand new oceanic course. This is due to the fact that oceanic course is seven years old this year. Many things have changed in the space of seven years with the introduction of AFV and ADSB in the LHI Sector of Brisbane Radio Tasman. This new content will be added into the new course to provide a further knowledge base to our students. We are also currently looking into conducting mentoring in conjunction with the theory course. Mentoring will hone in skills learnt in the theory course and provide a practical aspect to the knowledge learnt in Exam 1 & 2 in the theory course. We are currently working with the head of the Pacific Oceanic Agreement, Ray to figure out details on this. However, we plan for the student to have a mentoring session live on the network with a member of the training department already on the Pacific Oceanic Roster. This will be conducted as an over the shoulder session.

Old Controller coming back to VATSIM?
Old controller coming back to VATPAC after a time away due to the lockdown? If this is the case, welcome back to VATPAC! The ATC Training Department is always here to help. If you require a quick refresher we will endeavour to accommodate your request. Email [email protected] if this sounds like you.
Remember, the VATPAC ATC Training Academy and the VATPAC Local Procedures are always available to view at any time and we strongly encourage all controllers old or new to read these documents before going onto any ATC position.

Hello Nordin,
All your answers have been answered only a few days ago on the forums. However though, the Alias file isn't used all that often and is an optional file. You can achieve the samething by typing to the pilot as well. I'd also recomend this to begin with anyway so controllers can remember what to say. Like they say, practice makes perfect. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

You need to choose the prf file for the position/sector you wish to load. So eg Melbourne Aerodrome if you want to look at that

Hi Bradon,
When you open Euroscope do you have a PRF folder that you can open before Euroscope actually opens?
Can you confirm for me as well that you’ve got Euroscope 3.1d?
If you can’t figure out how to get it working I would be more than happy to show you how to set it up via Discord. Go to discord.vatpac.org to get started on that if you haven’t already. If you’re keen for me to help you send me an email ([email protected]) and we’ll find a time and date.

Congratulations to Alex who has met the requirements under the Pacific Oceanic Agreement syllabus and has been granted an oceanic endorsement!
Congratulations Alex!

@William Teale I'm interested in why coordination is unsuited on Discord for you? Its the exact same as Teamspeak? Push to Talk in a voice room.
To answer your question though no there isn't from my knowledge only a unofficial discord server.

Under 3.2.4.1 I think it states that Canberra doesn't need to be provided a top down serivce he/she doesn't want to. However, if this is the case no one should of been given landing clearance or handled for arrivals. It must be the same kind of service for arrivals and departures.

More!
Received via Email
On the 10th of Feb. 2020, myself and 2 others decided to do a VFR flight down to YMEN after Milk Run Monday. We decided to do some circuits at YMML to which Bishoy was very accommodating to us. He managed to successfully deal with us doing circuits around a somewhat busy YMML while still looking after all other traffic. He did an absolutely amazing job responding to our (sometimes ridiculous) requests on his first day controlling. By far my second favourite controller (no-one can beat Peter Armstrong from Seattle ARTCC and that's just fact) that I've ever dealt with. 10/10 would fly again.
Again awesome work @Bishoy megally

Email: "Today on February 10, I have encountered one of the nicest and accommodating controllers I've ever had the pleasure dealing with. He said it was his first day, but he kept calm with 3 182's in the pattern. He was very focused and he kept his priorities in line and hopefully, there'll be more controllers like him in the future. Total props for the trainer and the controller himself."
Well done @Bishoy megally it great to see such great feedback from a controller on his first session on the network! Keep it up!!
