I'm a newbie and still getting used to flying airliners. There were some strong headwinds heading south to YMML from YBBN. Chris got me sorted out on the comms for a proper flightlevel and then was kind enough to help me out and point me in the direction of Hemispherical Flight Levels when I asked him about the standard flight levels.

Helping me out has made a lot of other Centre controllers lives easier. Thanks Chris!

Great job Chris! Its these kind of controllers that make such a positive influence in the network and within our community.

    Keep it up!

  3. Hi Henryk,

We no longer use the legacy voice rooms and as you’ve correctly observed, we now use Audio For VATSIM.

Use this to listen to all the different frequencies on the network. When you want to listen to a station, click the plus button, type the callsign and frequency and then RX.

Thats it. Just make sure you’ve correctly typed out your password as it is case sensitive in the setting panel. If you have any questions feel free to send me an email.

  4. Today arguably VATPAC’s hardest working staff member, the backbone of the ATC Training Department, our very own Will Smart was promoted to the rating of I1.

Congratulations Will, thank you for being such a hard working, positive individual and I can’t wait to see you conducting assessments and continue to train VATPAC’s newest virtual air traffic controllers!

Coming to an assessment and position with an ‘I1’ all over Australia and VATPAC Pacific Airspace near you! If you see him around thank him and give him a huge congratulations!

  5. Hi Dave,

At VATPAC we use Discord now instead of TS. That can be accessed at discord.vatpac.org

However, I’m not sure if the VFR guys use that for not so I’m hoping @Russell Diehl can jump in and give you some more assurance on the matter. If they do use Discord, we can organise visitor permissions for you to access the server. Please send the discord administrator an email at [email protected] with the names and CIDs of the three of you.

    Hope that help,

    Cam

  6. Evening all,

It is it with sadness that I have to advise the community that Nick Falcione has decided to step down from his role as a mentor within the ATC Training Department. Nick wishes to focus more on personal projects and his life at the moment.

I want to take this time on behalf of the ATC Training Department, to thank Nick for this dedication and time in the ATC Training Department. Nick has been a big help in making videos and training students throughout his time in the department. I would like to take this time to say a massive thank you to you Nick for your service to the community.

Nick, I wish you all the best for your future endeavours and hope to see you around with your comedy!

What a sick guy. Although the start of our group flight (around 5-6) was a bit dead, we were given top-quality ATC service with our approach into Adelaide. 10/10 would fly again.

And we see @Cameron Wilbraham pop up again! Very obvious he's doing something right!! Keep it up Cam.
