This Weeks Flight for Wednesday 17th August 2022 commences a four leg trip in Alaska following the route of the famous Iditarod Dog Sled race (March 2022) commencing at Anchorage (PANC) and concludes at Nome. This1st leg will finish at Nikolai (PAFS). The flight plan provided is a general route linking supply line airfields; the sleds have to go around the higher mountains.

Scenery: Due to the plethora of flight sim programs now in use scenery is at the discretion of each pilot. If you can it would be interesting to fly this tour in partial snow.
Aircraft: Capable of 150kias is recommended. Kodiak, Twotter, Cessna Caravan or the like
Comms: Tune Radio to 122.80MHz - Unless Advised by ATC or further detailed hereunder
Flight Route: Details This 1st leg takes a shortcut across the bay from Anchorage to Nikolai as the race normally goes east along the bay and then north west. All dogs have been fitted with life vests for this leg (joke!!!)
Weather: Real time weather, fair weather if conditions are not suitable for VFR Flying.
