Welcome to May!

… and by extension, to the Darling Downs region of Queensland as part of this month’s FIFO Friday event. Said to have the “richest soil in the world”, the region has become the agricultural hub of not only Queensland, but all of Australia. It’s home to Queensland’s largest inland city, Toowoomba, whose primary airport (YBWW) now sees freighter flights as far away as Hong Kong and Singapore.

Of course, this event won’t be taking you that far. Depart from Brisbane International Airport (YBBN) and explore one of many airports in the Darling Downs region, with full ATC between 0700z-1100z (5pm-9pm AEST, 3pm-7pm AWST). Or why not even take your REX SF34 out for a spin on either their W1 or W2 routes up through central QLD. No matter the aircraft, you will be sure to find your home in the green heart of Queensland.

Only standard positions are rostered during FIFO Fridays, with non-standard positions only becoming available according to traffic levels, and only with the approval of a Senior Staff Member or C3 Controller. As such, the following positions will be rostered during this event:

Any positions not filled on the roster will be free for any controllers who wish to help out on the day.
