This Weeks Flight on 3rd June 2020 concludes a two leg flight of the Schwarzwald Region in Southern Germany. These flights are definitely scenic “slow and low” types.
Flight created by YMA555
Leg 2. Schaffhausen (LSPF) which is just across border in Switzerland with destination Stuttgart (EDDS). This flight takes in some castles, landmarks, Linach Dam and the Mercedes Benz factory just outside Stuttgart.
Must Have Scenery for XP11: Schwarzwald West and Schwarzwald Ost (East)
Recommended Scenery:    Simheaven X-Europe 4.5.1  This is freeware and is a large download 7.9GB and 15.2GB when unzipped. However it does cover all of Europe and is a useful download but not necessary for this flight although it does add a lot of objects.
Aircraft: Low and slow. Approx 100kias i.e. Robin DR40 or Stinson L-5
Comms: Unicom 122.80 unless instructed by ATC
Flight Plan: Follow way points in the flight plan LINK
Suggested Altitude: Refer flight Plan Link
Distance: Approx 132nm
Weather: Real time weather, fair weather if conditions are not suitable.

Communications
Australia uses CTAF (Common Traffic Advisory Frequency) for radio comms at uncontrolled airfields. Now that VATSIM has introduced AFV (Audio For VATSIM) CTAF can now be used across all VATSIM approved pilot clients. Pilots are requested to tune to the published frequency as detailed in the flight details for an event when operating in or around an aerodome to make and monitor CTAF broadcasts. Pilots should also be aware that it is a VATSIM COC (Code of Conduct) requirement that all pilots at uncontrolled airfields should monitor Unicom (Australia 122.80). It is highly recommended that pilots ensure that at least one of their "on board" COM radios (COM 2 being the most likely) is tuned to receive unicom transmissions in addition to transmitting and receiving on the published CTAF frequency. Please Note. All pilots should also be vigilant regarding the receipt of text on both unicom and CTAF. If it is discovered there is a pilot participating that is unable to receive voice transmissions, pilots should arrange to also broadcast via text to ensure those pilots without the benefit of voice is able to receive appropriate broadcasts. VATSIM provides an update guide for getting AFV working on each of the approved pilot clients.

This Weeks Flight on 17th June 2020 is something different and requires fast hands-on flying at very low altitude. We find ourselves in Wales (no, not Jonah), Wales UK. Anyway, the RAF does some of it's low altitude flying here called “Mach Loops”. We depart RAF Valley (EGOV) and fly approx. 45nm to the circuit which itself is about 34nm in circumference. It is suggested to do a practise run at first at about 200 kias and then do a 2nd circuit as fast as you can survive. If you survive return to RAF Valley (EGOV).
NB: Wpt 12 is a very tight turn to the right (002*)
Flight suggested by Dan McKee YMA555
Scenery Suggested: Orbx GB TE South is excellent for XP11   NB: The plan starts in Orbx TE Central (which is also recommended) however the scenery for the loop is part of Orbx South
RAF Valley EGOV required even if you have Orbx GB above because Orbx does not have a 3D version.
Aircraft Suggested: You can use any fast aircraft you choose 200kias -300kias or faster if you dare. The following are suggestions: Whatever aircraft you choose, make sure you enter the correct Multi-player ICAO when logging into Vatsim.
Cirrus SF-50 is a default Laminar and is a default CSL in Bluebell.
TB Epsilon (Socata) military trainer use CSL for Tucano in Bluebell with ICAO TUCA
Eurofighter Fairly small download and use CSL in Bluebell with ICAO EUFI
F35a Fairly small download however no CSL so just use ICAO EUFI (will show a Eurofighter)
Tutor 115E (Grob) a current RAF military trainer 65MB download and has existing CSL in Bluebell use ICAO G115
Comms: Unicom 122.80 unless instructed by ATC

Welcome to the next installment of Newbie Night. This event offers the chance for inexperienced members to join experienced aviators and controllers and take to the virtual skies. Whether you're completely new to flight simulation or you've been flying for years but never connected to the VATSIM network, this is the night for you with plenty of people available to help on the VATPAC Discord. To Join the Discord visit this link.

      Event Details:
Fly between Adelaide (YPAD) and Melbourne (YMML) in either direction to experience Class C and enroute airspace, with a bit of time to relax in cruise and enjoy the scenery. This flight is for:
Newbie pilots who want to learn and gain confidence flying on the VATSIM network with live ATC. Experienced controllers who are patient and willing to help newbie pilots on the network. Experienced pilots who are patient and willing to assist newbie pilots through the VATPAC Discord. Flights will depart from 0800z (1800 AEST) with ATC requested/available until around 1200z (2200 AEST).
We recommend planning to depart before 1030z (2030 AEST) to complete your flight with full ATC.

      Tutorials:
This site has tutorials (see Help > Tutorials in the menu) which give an overview of flight and ATC procedures.  An example of procedures between Class C airports in a radar environment can be found here: https://vatpac.org/help/pilot-tutorials/ifr-melbourne-to-sydney/

      Routes:
We recommend using the following routes which are suitable for a jet such as an Airbus A320, Boeing 737, regional jet or business jet, or a turboprop such as a Dash-8, ATR 72, Saab 340 or King Air.
